MM&K director, Paul Norris joins London forum discussion on remuneration and governance for NEDs in financial services firms

February 26, 2026

On 24 February, NEDs in FS hosted a discussion forum at the London offices of Herbert Smith Freehills Kramer (HSFK) exploring the rapidly evolving landscape of remuneration and governance in the financial services sector. The session examined the latest regulatory developments, and the challenges for remuneration committees seeking to design remuneration policies that are fair and competitive, balance risk and reward and align pay with organisational culture, strategy, and purpose.

Chaired by NEDs in FS founder, Ben Blackett-Ord, the panel featured Diane Seymour‑Williams, Chair of SEI and an experienced remuneration committee chair, HSFK partner, Mark Ife and MM&K director, Paul Norris. They led a dynamic, wide-ranging discussion on the delicate balance between the commercial imperatives of attracting and retaining the best talent and the pressures of regulatory scrutiny, considering the current situation in the UK and Europe and looking forward to what might be coming down the road in future.

The Chatham House rule applied and, following opening comments from the panel, the audience engaged in lively discussion and debate, as between themselves and with the panel, sharing their own thoughts and often citing their own experiences.
