Just Launched: Life in the Boardroom 2026/27

MM&K has officially launched the 2026/27 edition of Life in the Boardroom, our long-running survey of Non-Executive Directors (NEDs) and Board Chairs. Since 1990, the survey has gathered insights directly from directors, providing a first-hand picture of life in the boardroom.

The survey covers NEDs and Chairs across UK and overseas listed and private companies, private equity portfolio companies, public sector organisations, not-for-profit organisations and charities. It provides valuable insight into directors’ fees and time commitments, alongside their views on topical and important boardroom issues.

A New Approach for 2026/27

As outlined in our previous newsletter, Life in the Boardroom is adopting a new format for 2026/27. Instead of one comprehensive biennial questionnaire, insights will be gathered through a series of shorter pulse surveys focused on current and emerging boardroom issues. Three pulse surveys will be conducted during this cycle, with the findings contributing to the next full Life in the Boardroom report.

The first pulse survey is now open. We invite NEDs and Board Chairs to share their perspectives on the issues shaping today’s boardrooms. Everyone who participates will receive a complimentary mini report of the survey findings, providing insight into the views and experiences of their peers.
