Participating Firms at a record high in this year’s UK and European PE and VC Compensation Survey – don’t miss the opportunity to obtain invaluable data
June 29, 2022
MM&K’s 2022 survey into compensation levels and structures in the UK and European PE, VC, Infrastructure and Real Estate fund management sectors is well underway and it looks like we will have a record number of firms participating in the survey this year.
We only gather data for the purposes of the survey from the fund management houses themselves, so not from individuals or any other source. As a result, the data is as accurate and reliable as it can be.
The survey covers both the short-term and long-term aspects of pay and incentive practice in the alternative investment management space including in the fund-of-funds and secondaries space. The short-term aspects concentrate on cash compensation levels and structures, covering base salary and annual bonus award levels as well as the various design features one sees around annual bonus plans in this sector.
The long-term aspects focus on carried interest plans – the levels of carry, how the carry pot is shared between team and house and how the team share is split between different grades of investment professionals and back office – co-investment plans and equity ownership/participation.
This year, we are covering 53 incumbent positions in our survey, including eighteen investment, deal origination and asset management roles, three investor relations roles and 32 office admin, finance, legal, marketing, IT, HR and ESG roles. The ESG roles are new additions to our survey this year, recognising the importance now being placed on this very important aspect of the investment management world we now live in.
Another interesting focus that we are placing on the survey this year is in the area of gender pay differentials. For the first time we are asking participating firms to record the gender of each incumbent so that we can identify any themes along the lines of the gender pay gap that we see in other industries.
We would welcome any firms, however large or small they may be, in these sectors to participate in our 2022 Survey.
To find out more about what is happening to pay levels, all relevant firms are invited to participate in our PE, VC, Infrastructure and Real Estate Compensation Survey, the results for which we expect to publish in late September.
