MM&K (as a part of the GECN Group) has conducted annual research on global trends in corporate governance since 2020. Our reports are a unique insight on how Environmental, Social, and Governance incentives have flourished in the compensation of executives in the world’s largest firms. We are again pleased to present our 2024 report “Entering The Next Phase of Maturity”, exploring how ESG has continued to swell across the globe.

Some of our 2024 findings include:

  • Almost 9/10 firms now use ESG incentives
  • The number of firms featuring ESG incentives has grown in every region since 2020
  • 3/4 firms now use social measures like diversity and inclusion, maintaining it as the most popular measure
  • Environmental measures continue their impressive momentum, now at 3/5 of firms, more than doubling in just two years
  • Though ESG was historically the home of short-term incentives, 1/3 firms now use ESG in their long-term incentives, doubling since 2020
